Timeless architecture What is it? How can a structure become a symbol and exist for many years? In this project, he explores monumental values expressed in a residential building that becomes a community symbol in the Shapira neighborhood and provides a sense of belonging and identification of the neighborhood’s residents. Among the characteristics of monumental buildings it has been discovered that there are many monuments, unusual from their surroundings built by their height and by a development area that encompasses and differentiates them from the urban fabric. In addition, the function of that structure can also attest to its uniqueness and public importance. All of these are major causes that can make a structure an eternal symbol.
The principles of the residence stemmed from investigations of recognized monuments. In the project, the residence on display stands out from the surrounding area by its height, is an attraction thanks to its surrounding yard. It causes a sense of public belonging for the reason that contains a public gallery that distinguishes it. This function encourages and attracts visitors from both the neighborhood itself and abroad, all despite being a private residence. The monumental residence is an artist’s house in the Shapira neighborhood. The functions of the private home are integrated along it so that each level has one function. The house as a monument simulates one clear ceremonial process, a “pilgrimage” from the public and daily outdoor environment to the last level of the house – the bedroom. Some of the levels of the house also serve as furniture that emphasizes the aspiration for height and the utilization of the areas for this benefit. On the last floor, is the public gallery designed for visitors who come to view a single work of art by the artist alongside a view of the neighborhood.
