A textile installation representing a temple for Eve, the first creator and the maker of the living world. The installation incorporates printmaking, embroidery, and animation.

“During the lockdowns of the pandemic I explored the idea of seclusion within a social, gender, and creative context. My research question was: what happens within the space of a creative woman’s seclusion?” says Ariel.

In her research, she developed a new mythology in which Eve created the world in her image; Ariel then built her a temple. The temple is made from three hand-embroidered, digitally- and screen-printed tapestries, and contains a canopy altar holding an animated ark and a book of holy texts.

Materials: linen fabric, reactive and discharge pigments, cotton thread, wood

Techniques: hand embroidery, screen printing, digital printing, animation.
