My final project began in collaboration with the brand with the social agenda, “Kite Pride”,
which offers women in prostitution in Israel what they need most – a stable workplace and a roof over their heads. This is done by sewing and manufacturing bags from a unique raw material – kite-surfing parachutes (taking used and damaged parachutes and giving them new life). The starting point made me realize that what Kite Pride is actually offering these women is a way out of the vicious circle of their lives – an exit ticket to freedom. With the full support of Kite Pride, I made the collection from used kites that were a dominant source in design with full reference to the colors, details and prints of the kites I received. The “Ready to wear” unisex collection I created conveys freedom and nonchalance and creates a safe space. The heart of the project deals with our recognition of ourselves, our environment as a powerful driving force, and the understanding that we have the ability and immunity to withstand every bend in the road and in the belief that we have an exit ticket to change reality.
