The final project “Forgetfulness as Memory” deals with personal experience. “A few years ago, I experienced a head injury, which I lost short-term memory to. The immediate meaning of that injury was expressed in the brain’s inability to produce and store new memories, or by its scientific name: amnesia. This experience brought to me the need for a constant search to complete the missing parts of the memory,” says Peleg. As part of the process Matityahu searched for material that could represent and have memory, a material that would enable the disassembly and reassemble through intuitive work that simultaneously combines the conscious and the subconscious, using an extraordinary materiality that will lead to a series of jewelry that remembers and at the same time forgets what they were and what they are now. “The constant repetition of the nature and manner of work provides healing and meditative quiet. “The attraction between me and the work constitutes my identity and mental well-being,” Matityahu concludes. Materials: plaster straps. Silver chain 925. Techniques: goldsmiths, knitting, embroidered
