Animals and people move from place to place due to the force of nature, or out of an inner urge to go on a journey and arrive at a predetermined destination. In her works, Amit Glazer exposes the truth about our world as she sees it; in doing so, she tries to change the current reality and create a new world.
According to Glazer, society has divided our lives into molds that change from culture to culture, and these reflect the social values according to which we live. Thus, for instance, Western culture has “tolerated” patriarchy for most of its history and perhaps still does; therefore women still observe the world from a masculine perspective.
“We live in a world of unequal appropriation and we see this in many areas; women, animals, and nature have become products we are accustomed to consuming; consumerism is out of control and peoples’ happiness has become dependent on it,” says Glazer.
In recent years we have begun to witness the consequences of our behavior: the wasted resources and the damage to our climate mean that people are destroying their home with their own hands. Glazer’s work reflects an ideal that is not perfect and depicts the ecological abyss we have reached. The more we delve into the exhibition, the more we discover the wild beauty of the feminine objects representing animals; and, as in life, it serves as a smokescreen to the sad truth.
