The times we live in led me to look at garbage, piles, and piles of garbage. I focused my attention specifically on the oceans, magical places that have become the garbage dump of the Western world. It makes me furious that the fashion industry is the second-most polluting industry, and for what? Another T-shirt or pair of jeans that looks the same made in mass production, poor quality, and lack of originality. I have realized that everything is part of one great interwoven tapestry, and every choice of ours affects the entire ecosystem. My work as a designer and ecological responsibility are interrelated and can impact each other. My final project addresses design and environmental pollution. I designed a collection of men’s sneakers based on used and recycled denim from old pairs of jeans that have been donated from the organization “Pichon Lev” as the leading material. The colors are in shades of blue that correlate and recall both oceans and jeans
