CRISPR-Cas9 is a gene-editing and genetic engineering system that enables scientists to increase, change, or reduce gene expression. This study, conducted at the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, used the CRISPR-Cas9 system to assess the effect of PD-L1 receptors on pancreatic cancer cells. In the in-vitro trials, genetically-edited cells have shown limited invasion capabilities as part of the metastatic process. In the mouse model, we have demonstrated a decrease in tumor size and an increase in the number of immune response cells within the tumor.
