A personal story and a long research process gave rise to a new garment collection – one that looks at the consequences and impact of violence against women. What does it look and feel like to “wear” an emotional burden and to feel “whole” with a tear that will probably never be re-mended? In her graduation collection, Noya Raviv creates a comfortable-uncomfortable male-female dialogue and internalizes and accepts the new body as a ‘changed’ body. Through design manipulations, She examines new methods designed using an iron construction without which the clothes would lose stability. Raviv presents a women’s collection that relies on the memory of clothes, borrowing motifs from the worlds of masculine tailored designs, string vests, and feminine lingerie, giving legitimacy to the new, “abnormal” and traumatized body. The collection incorporates handmade knitting and handmade fabric dyes, felt, gauze, cotton, and tights.
