In my final project I present the story of my warrior grandmother’s life, in World War II and her being a theater actress at the end of the war – the inconceivable gap between her heroism and her career.
I combine the national culture of classical Russia in my grandmother’s period with that of Russia at the 1990s, in which I grew up, in the postmodernist period of the 1990s, with the fall of the walls and the collapse of the Soviet system in the Soviet Union. And the culture and the whole country was filled with “new fruits from the West.”
In the project I will present my point of view – how Russia of the old times is reflected in the post-Soviet children of the 90s. I will create clothing systems for women and men, I will combine tailored and military elements, theatrical elements from the theater world in which my grandmother participated, in the face of the postmodern period of the 90s – influenced by Western culture, using sporty cuts. All of these will be reflected in a combination of diverse patterns and ornamentation.
