In Johad Arkin’s installation, the works of art resemble the products they represent in both size and character. On the floor of the space puff essential oil diffusers with the opaque color of an eraser and the texture of skin. On the wall is a series of prints depicting chewing gum in different flavors – imagery that started out as a doodle in a moment of boredom and later became a series of woodcuts created during the lockdowns of the last year. Plexiglass frames covered in pictures and plasticine – an attempt to manipulate the transparency of the plastic – hang on climbing ropes descending from the ceiling. The installation, which appeals to the nose and mouth as much as it does to the eyes, is also a sort of organism: electricity flows through the walls and water through the air.
