This project explores the topic of movement and pattern in textile design by filming and editing video which is then screened next to the printed fabrics.
The work process focuses on attempting to achieve a deep understanding of the essence of pattern.
“For the videos I created, I filmed and edited an assembly of abstract shapes that, through their movement, progressively form a pattern,” explains Bar.
The medium of video permits an understanding of essential principles such as abstraction, balance, scale, transitions, and movement, which are revealed in the creation of a pattern for designing bolts of fabric.
