Many have seen the natural disasters that have befallen disasters in recent years as a kind of signal of the world asking us to stop. The corona plague has forced us to rethink our way of life. In the past a garment was created out of necessity, long-term practice and thought, but today we are changing and getting rid of clothes at a dizzying pace.

“I was privileged to grow up next to my mother with gold hands. In my childhood memories my mother would embroider and sew, never throwing a garment, not even a sock with a hole. Together we repaired the holes, and created new items from old clothes that were not used.” Says Zeltzer.

Alexandra Zeltzer’s final project deals with the subject of “correction”, on the spiritual and physical level. She re-imagines her mother’s philosophy – repair and reconstruction instead of buying a new garment. Inspired by classic tailoring and handicrafts, the collection features six women’s clothing sets based on iconic items, such as the trench coat and the tailored suit. In some cases I disassemble and reassemble the cut, in others I remove a central feature in the garment, all in order to impart a new interpretation to the classics.
