A line of garments documenting the human facets of the female body, intentionally designed with imperfections and disharmony.
This project is about the body’s external flaws, which reflect inner body image. “Drawing on my journey from childhood to adulthood, I chose to display my female body, while I am equipped with the tools to understand the nature of choice, action, form and result,” explains Sharvit. The act of plastering the body creates a sculpture, which is a material copy of the real, individual body. The tools and activities enlisted were used to create material fabrics that are a personal interpretation of the skin’s flaws as the lining of the self.
Materials: silicone in various colors, modeling clay, plaster strips
Techniques: sculpting with plaster strips, spreading modeling clay to create texture, silicone casts
