Ella Altman (1993) spent her army service working at Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) as an editor of literary late-night programming. When she couldn’t get close to the announcer she was in love with, she wrote poetry and recorded radio dramas. When she was afraid to meet a girl’s eyes, she began taking photographs; and when she didn’t manage to tell that girl how she felt, she turned to editing.
Her graduate project creates a common space for these mediums to come together outside of politics, time, and place: a film, one that is both documentary and fantasy.
Her first short film, The Holocaust Is Over BITCH (2019), which she made for her vanished Polish girlfriend, has been screened at festivals in Israel and around the world.
