Every day, many people commute by train during rush hour and face the daily challenge of finding a seat. Unfortunately, with no way of knowing which cars have free seats, many passengers end up standing even when there are seats elsewhere.
Networked Train informs passengers about empty seats in real-time and directs them to the right cars.
Here’s how it works:
The program collects data from the booking system and a sensor network installed onboard the train. The information is then displayed to the passengers in real-time. The collected data provides the railway company’s management with accurate statistics about train capacity, allowing the company to adapt accordingly.
This system significantly improves the train commute experience and could persuade many people to start commuting by train regularly instead of using private vehicles.
