We have all been there, staring in bafflement at the ridiculously high numbers on our utility bill. But is this situation preventable? Can we reduce our water and power consumption and save money? Is there a way to track our utility bill in real-time before it’s time to pay up?

Now, there is. Introducing EconHomeic, the system that brings order to everything utility-bill-related. EconHomeic helps users become part of a global effort to protect the environment and conserve resources, with the side benefit of saving money.

The system consists of two sub-systems:

1. An electronic sensor array is deployed throughout the user’s home. The sensors monitor appliance use and collect consumption data. The sensor system also learns when the user consumes power or water unintentionally and automatically corrects these behaviors upon receiving permission from the user.
2. EconHomeic’s user interface: a mobile system combining React Native, Node.js, Redux, and AWS. Once installed in the user’s home, it manages the database where the data from the sensors is stored and displays helpful recommendations and insights.
