A line of embroidered fabrics and objects inspired by prayer shawls and the poetry of Yehuda Amichai.
This project is a collection of hand-embroidered fabrics that invoke questions about Judaism from a secular perspective. The work was inspired by an inner dialogue arising from the experience of reading the poetry of Yehuda Amichai. Issues such as faith, prayer, and enveloping are given material expression through the language of textile. The embroidered details were created out of observations of pieces of fabric and lines of poetry, and the embroidered texts resemble the whispering of a prayer: ceremony, text, textile.
Materials: scraps of cloth, sewing thread
Techniques: hand sewing and embroidery, filming and video editing
