A book containing a series of illustrated houses embroidered on paper with text incorporated.
This project was created after moving from the city to the countryside and starting a family. The work process began with photographing and documenting unique houses in a rural setting; these photographs then served as a base for creating sketches and written illustrations. “I embroidered the houses as a real and abstract metaphor for feelings and memory, accompanied by text. This ‘field guide’ isn’t a logical one, but rather a peek into the home that allows me (and the reader) to think of and to experience the home as a flexible space that is open to change,” says Jano.
